Planck's Constant

Classical physics is made up by two concepts. The first is the concept of a particle and the second is the concept of an electromagnetic wave. All together they account for the material world around us (particle) and the light waves that light up this world (electromagnetic wave).

The classical theory started to break down in 1900 when Max Planck published a theory of black-body radiation. Planck explained the behavior of black-body radiation by believing that atoms emit and absorb radiation with the equation e=hv where v is the frequency of the radiation and h is a fundamental constant of nature.

H=6.626 * 10^-34 J s

This constant is Planck’s constant.
